User Stories
A User Story describes something to be achieved by using a piece of software from a user's perspective. The User Story is subdivided by means of Test Cases into the various steps needed to achieve this objective.
The User Stories page provides an overview of all User Stories contained in a version. You can create new User Stories and edit or delete existing ones. Each User Story can contain as many Test Cases as you like. Each Test Case is linked to a Workflow, that will execute the Test Run.
As long as there are no Test Cases or at least one Test Case with status Not Ready assigned, the status of the User Story is Not Ready.
The status of a User Story is Ready, if all assigned Test Cases have the status Ready.
Test Plans can only be executed if all their User Stories have the status Ready.
User
Only users with the Test Automation Management Open privilege can access the Test Automation application.
Multitenancy
Test Automation projects are created for the Customer currently selected by the Customer Switch. Standard users will only see Test Automation projects for their allocated Customer.
System users may select any Customer. After selecting a Customer using the Customer Switch, work carried out by the System User is performed in the context of that Customer. New Test Automation projects created by System Users are then associated with the selected Customer for use by that Customer's users.
Caution: Test Automation projects are not supported when logged in as a System User. When the Customer Switch is set to [System], the following message will appear:
Navigation
For easier navigation Breadcrumbs are shown at the top of each page. Clicking on the names opens the respective page or menu.
Menu
The User Stories support the following menu items:
Refresh
This menu item updates the list of User Stories. The table's status bar shows the time of the last refresh.
Expand All
This menu item expands the list of User Stories to also show the contained Test Cases.
Collapse All
This menu item collapses the list of User Stories so only the name line of the User Stories are shown.
Create
This menu item creates a new User Story for a version of a Test Automation project.
- Reference You can use this field for free text or add a hyperlink by clicking the link symbol
on the right side of the text field.
User
This menu item is only available to users with the following privilege: UserStory Create / Edit.
Edit
All parameters for a User Story can be modified later using this menu item.
User
This menu item is only available to users with the following privilege: UserStory Create / Edit.
Remove
If a User Story is no longer required, use this menu item to remove it from the project.
It is only possible to delete a User Story, if it is not included in any Test Plans.
All Test Cases assigned to that User Story will be also deleted.
User
This menu item is only available to users with the following privilege: UserStory Delete.
Import
User Stories can also be imported using this menu item.
User
This menu item is only available to users with the following privilege: UserStory Create / Edit.
Update to latest Revision
This menu option allows you to change the selected Workflows to the latest revision.
User
This menu item is only available to users with the following privilege: UserStory Create / Edit.
Detailed View
Click on a User Story name in the User Stories table to see more details of that User Story.
All User Stories contain at least one Test Case. Test Cases are the smallest units within a test. The Workflow assigned to each Test Case contains the code to be executed in the test. Test Cases are executed in the same order as they appear in the list of Test Cases within a User Story.
As long as there is no Workflow assigned, the status of a Test Case is Not Ready.
The status of a Test Case is Ready if it has a Workflow assigned.
The status of a User Story depends on the status of the contained Test Cases:
As long as there are no Test Cases or at least one Test Case with status Not Ready assigned, the status of the User Story is Not Ready.
The status of a User Story is Ready, if all assigned Test Cases have the status Ready.
Disabled Test Cases have no influence on the status of the User Story that contains them. If all Test Cases of a User Story are disabled, the status of the User Story is Not Ready.
Test Plans can only be executed if all their User Stories have the status Ready.
Menu
A Test Case supports the following menu items:
Create
This menu item creates a new Test Case relating to a User Story for a version of a Test Automation project.
User
This menu item is only available to users with the following privilege: UserStory Create / Edit.
- Importance Use the drop-down menu to select the importance with which an error will be treated when executing the Test Case. Test Cases with a high error importance are marked with three upward facing arrows in the list of all Test Cases. Test Cases with a medium or low error importance are indicated by a two or one upward facing arrows respectively.
These symbols are also used in the Test Plan Results.
Edit
All parameters for a Test Case can be modified later using this menu item.
User
This menu item is only available to users with the following privilege: UserStory Create / Edit.
Remove
If a Test Case is no longer required, use this menu item to remove it from the user story.
User
This menu item is only available to users with the following privilege: UserStory Delete.
Disable
If a Test Case should temporary not be included in a user Story it can be disabled. Its status will not be considered relevant for the User Story status it is a part of. A disabled Test Case can be re-enabled at any time.
User
This menu item is only available to users with the following privilege: UserStory Delete.
Move Up
Move the selected Test Case one position up within the respective user story.

This menu item is only available to users with the following privilege: UserStory Create / Edit.
Move Down
Move the selected Test Case one position down within the respective user story.

Test Cases can be imported as well:

Ownership
Each Test Case can be assigned an owner. Owners can be released or take over other Test Cases.

Requirement Labels
Requirement Labels can be assigned to Test Cases to categorize them according to content or goal. Requirement Labels are words or very short sentences (up to 20 characters) describing Customer needs, contract specifications or restrictions for example. They have to be defined on the page Requirement Labels first.

Workflow
Use this menu item to assign a different revision of a Workflow to a version, to show a graphical Workflow overview, or to update multiple workflows to the latest revision.
