Dashboard - Common Features

Private and public dashboards are created, configured, and adjusted in the same manner. In each case, you must first create a private dashboard, which can then be published if required.

You can now configure the analysis interval, the refresh rate, and the individual widgets.

Analysis interval and refresh rate

The analysis interval specifies the timeframe in which the data is collected, analyzed, and displayed in the widget.

The refresh rate determines how frequently the data is reevaluated and how frequently the view of the dashboard is refreshed.

The analysis interval and the refresh rate are used for all widgets on a dashboard.

If you wish to use different analysis intervals on the same widgets, you should create multiple dashboards for this.

The analysis interval is displayed in the Overview so you do not necessarily have to maintain it in the name of the dashboard.

Click on the link at the upper right of an open dashboard to set the analysis interval and the refresh rate.

The Analysis interval window opens.

You can choose from various preconfigured analysis intervals and refresh rates or you can configure a user-defined (custom) interval.

By default, the overview of the last hour is set with a five-minute refresh rate.

Interval

The currently active analysis interval is underlined. Click on the description of an analysis interval to select this interval.

If you click on Custom interval, the input fields on the right are free for processing.

Custom interval

Click on the calendar icon to select the start and end dates, and on the clock icon to select the start and end times of your user-defined interval.

Refresh

Please select in the drop-down list whether and how frequently the data of the dashboard is to be refreshed.

You can select from various time values between thirty seconds and two hours.

You start the refresh interval by clicking on the button OK.

Independent of the refresh rate that is set, you can refresh the dashboard at any time by clicking on the icon Refresh manually at the top right of the view.

Independent of the manual refresh, the next automatic refresh is always carried out at the end of the configured time interval.

Adding widgets to a dashboard

Within a dashboard, you can add, remove, arrange and scale widgets as you wish.

Click on the open view of a dashboard on the button Add widget and select a widget from the drop-down list.

The widget is automatically inserted at the next suitable free space on the dashboard. You can then scale it and reposition it.

To delete a widget, click on the icon Close in the upper right corner of the widget.

You can find more general information on the widgets and descriptions of the individual widgets in the Chapter entitled Widgets > Overview.

Monitoring a dashboard

Click on the name of a dashboard in the list of private or public dashboards to open the dashboard.

Leave the dashboard view open and have a look at it from time to time.

The view is refreshed automatically after the set period or manually.

You can open multiple dashboards simultaneously in different tabs or windows.

Detailed views

Some widgets also offer a drill-down facility or links to additional details. By clicking on the Close button, you return to the previous view.

Saving a dashboard

button_Save

Click on the button Save to save the current configuration of the widgets together with the analysis interval and the refresh rate.

You should save the dashboard after every adjustment that is to be permanent.

The dashboard remains open after saving.
