Release Preview #1: Customizable criteria for RPA process evaluation

A new release of our RPA XceleratorOne (X1) platform is due at the end of January. Since we can hardly wait ourselves, we are offering you a sneak preview of selected features before the release. Today’s focus: The new individualization of the evaluation criteria for processes. This allows you to evaluate processes even more precisely according to your individual metrics and check how suitable they are for RPA. This will increase the quality and end result of your process automation.

Process evaluation has always been an integral part of X1 Lifecycle Management. With it, users check whether a process is suitable for RPA and what specific added value automation offers, based on an evaluation model with various criteria. It gives companies an overview of their RPA pipeline at all times, displayed as a clear heat map, and can even prioritize it according to added value. This integrated process evaluation helps you to check processes for their RPA suitability quickly and easily.

RPA tactics: X1 process evaluation delivers key insights

In addition, the process evaluation – with its heat map representation of all evaluated processes – gives you a starting point for tactical considerations on how to approach RPA:

? Should you start with the “low-hanging fruit” first, i.e. simpler processes? Are there enough of them to produce a relevant result (keyword: critical mass)?

? Or should you approach RPA strategically, targeting business-critical and business-relevant processes that may take a little longer, but then offer extremely high added value?

Incidentally, the international high-tech company Sesotec chose the latter approach, using RPA from Servicetrace to automate a revenue-relevant, business-critical process.

Considerations like this and general RPA tactics depend on many aspects. The process evaluation of X1 and its analysis provide interesting information here to assess the situation and possibilities.

New in January 2020: Customizable criteria for process evaluation

Furthermore, we provide standard criteria for the qualification of processes (RPA Qualifiers) and their benefit calculation (RPA Benefits). As of January, these will also be individually customizable. This is because many industries, organizations, or individual teams have individual metrics based on their specific objectives and tasks, which they use to evaluate their processes. We want to take this into account and tailor X1 Process Evaluation even more to the needs of our users. As before, you can evaluate the criteria up to a five-level model.

Advantage: Individual process evaluation with company-wide comparability

This means the evaluation criteria for processes can now be customized, which is very practical for individual departments. But what does this mean for RPA assessment across the entire organization? Servicetrace stands for enterprise-wide, holistic process automation – which is why we also call it Enterprise Process Automation. The company-wide standardization of RPA is therefore very important to us. Because RPA will only develop its full potential if it can be implemented and managed company-wide. This is why we now offer customizable evaluation criteria. However, the results of all process evaluations are presented in the heat map in a comparable way throughout the company – via a mathematical key figure calculation. This enables individual departments to evaluate their processes according to individual key figures and criteria, while still ensuring that comparability of all evaluated processes is maintained throughout the company. This, in turn, promotes transparency and governance of RPA at the enterprise level.

How you can use the customizable evaluation criteria:

✅ Define the key figures for processes in X1 that are relevant for you

✅ Evaluate processes according to these metrics

✅ Find out which processes are best suited for RPA and bring the greatest added value

> By individualizing the evaluation criteria, this evaluation step is now even more precise – which has a positive effect on automation success

✅ Compare your evaluated processes with those of other teams on a heat map overview – which shows the evaluation criteria comparably despite their individual nature

✅ Select the processes with the highest added value for your organization

✅ Create a prioritized RPA pipeline with the best possible return on investment
