Release preview #4: Automate-the-Automation: Self-Building RPA Workflows

Want your process automation to be high quality and highly efficient? You need to automate the automation! Servicetrace’s enterprise RPA platform X1 makes this possible: X1 leverages the process model in BPMN 2.0 to automatically generate parts of the automation process (RPA workflow). Starting at the end of January, X1 users will be able to massively accelerate automation development and improve automation quality.

Our ambitious goal is to develop XceleratorOne (X1) to be the most comprehensive and successful platform for Enterprise Process Automation. Automation success depends primarily on these six factors:

? A high level of transparency along the entire automation process to reduce complexity.

? High RPA governance, i.e. controllability of all aspects of automation. This includes users, projects, and bots.

? Effective collaboration with people and team management that works.

? A simple, intuitive handling with no IT knowledge needed to inspire and enable many people to automate.

? Compliant, centralized automation management along the entire RPA lifecycle that meets the highest enterprise requirements in terms of security requirements, multi-tenancy, and scalability.

? Extensive monitoring, analytics and controlling capabilities for continuous evaluation, optimization and profit calculation of your automation.

Servicetrace has always stood for holistic, well thought-out process automation. That’s why we ask ourselves every day how we can further improve the quality and efficiency of our products and our customers’ automation. Our answer: with automation! The more steps of the process automation process that are automated, the faster – and the more error-free – the end result. On top of this, your process automation will be better quality and more efficient, and offer you a greater return on investment.

Innovation at X1: The automated automation design

Our focus has always been on achieving the highest possible degree of automation for our solution, while integrating functions such as X1 Lifecycle Management, including user guidance. By the way, the new RPA release X1 2021.1 introduces “Guided Tours” that draw the user’s attention to important functions and explain them.

Our self-building RPA workflows continue on this path (see also the video at the end of the article). You can use these with your normal X1 license, with no additional costs or effort, nor any additional artificial intelligence. X1 Design Studio is the automation development (automation or RPA development) area within the X1 platform. Here, you design the RPA workflow, in particular, you configure the automation flow for the X1 bot. The X1 Design Studio is structured like a toolbox. With the help of an extensive library, business users can quickly and easily design the RPA workflow using drag-and-drop. This step, which has long been one of the core tasks of “citizen developers” and RPA developers, can now be at least partially automated with the help of X1.

How do RPA workflows build themselves?

Another unique selling point of the X1 platform is the integration of a business process management engine. This allows you to manage processes directly in the common business process management standard BPMN 2.0 and then automate them further. There are three possible ways to create the process model:

1) You model the process manually using the built-in BPM engine in X1.

2) You import the process model in the BPMN 2.0. standard into X1.

3) You use the X1 Process Recorder to record processes and this generates the BPMN 2.0 model for you directly in addition to the click-path documentation.

Starting with the X1 release in January 2021, our X1 platform will automatically build parts of the automation process (RPA workflow) on the basis of the BPMN model without any additional effort. Specifically, this concerns all process steps around Windows applications. For these processes, X1 generates the action commands of the RPA Workflow in a matter of seconds (see explanatory video below). Just like that, you’ll be automating automation development – and, of course, reducing the susceptibility to errors.

What are the most important advantages of self-building RPA workflows?

⭐ significantly faster RPA development

⭐ fewer errors and higher quality of RPA workflows

⭐ faster empowerment of business users and citizen developers

⭐ more efficient process automation
