The degree of automation in factories has increased by 75% since 1980 – office automation by only 3% in the same period! These figures make it clear that the topic of automation of business processes with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is not a hype, but of high current relevance.

We also felt this at our annual Servicetrace “home event” #RoboticDays 2019: The more than fully booked robotics conference burst at the seams with over 200 participants. Company representatives and those interested in RPA accepted our invitation to learn more about RPA and best practices, to exchange ideas with other users and robotics experts, and to delve deeper into the topics of RPA strategy and governance, intelligent automation and artificial intelligence in eleven lectures and ten workshops.

We will bot you! Markus Duus, CEO of Servicetrace, opened this year’s Robotic Days on 28 May in Darmstadt with this slogan and to the sounds of the almost identical Queen song. At his side: The Hessian Digital Minister.

“Digital transformation is also a transformation in people’s minds”
The Hessian Minister for Digital Strategy & Development, Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus, opened the conference with a brilliant greeting. As an entrepreneur, the Minister knows what it means to break new ground: For more than 20 years, the Digital Ministry has been the youngest ministry to have been created in Hesse (the last was the Environment Ministry in 1985). Accordingly, in her opinion it is important to think holistically about the complex and diverse topic of digitization and automation – and to always involve people. “The digital transformation is also a transformation in people’s minds,” emphasizes Prof. Dr. Sinemus. The Lord Mayor of the digital city of Darmstadt, Jochen Partsch, was also a guest speaker and reported on innovative digital projects in the city administration.

“Hot Topics” for Automation Professionals: Process Identification, Strategy and Governance
Servicetrace CEO Markus Duus presented the industry-unique automation platform XceleratorOne (X1) to the plenum – and hit the nerve of time with it: X1 reacts exactly to current requirements that RPA-experienced companies formulate for solution providers after the first “lessons learned” from pilot projects. X1 is the only RPA solution to integrate the initial evaluation of business processes: Each process is recorded, visualized and tested for automation potential and benefits using various criteria. The recording and simultaneous documentation of processes in the industry standard BPMN 2.0 is also unique: Cleanly identified, optimally modelled business processes are the basis for successful automation. This is exactly what X1 offers with its integrated engine for Business Process Management (BPM). Equally unique is the lifecycle concept with which companies can transparently manage and implement their automation projects in all phases.

Many companies have been working rather poorly with a patchwork of different solutions in separate responsibility silos on their RPA projects. Because X1 integrates all state-of-the-art technologies necessary for successful automation and well thought-out, collaborative project management on one solution platform, companies can now control all automation projects centrally, comprehensively and successfully: X1 thus also provides the ultimate answer to “pain point” governance.
